GLOP

By Jerry Durant

An Opportunity Between a Twit and a Blog

Those that know me understand that I love the freshness of change.  Especially when change involves new ideas.  I was thinking the other day about how we write our blogs and how we struggle with the too much/too little balance.  It came to me that maybe we should have something that can nest inside a blog that can flexibly accommodate the big and small without having to worry about right sizing.  Tada… the birth of the GLOP (Got to Love Our Passions) and as the pneumonic suggest a solution alternative for the social media challenged.  In the spirit of the GLOP this will be kept brief and we will roll on to some GLOP topics pertinent to outsourcing.

GLOP1: Recent Proposed Legislation by Charles Schumer (D-NY) will Assess $.25 per forward outbound call.
How will this affect your business, you as a consumer and who will benefit from the tax?Do  you think that jobs will come back onshore because of this?  Are you willing to do call center type work for the long term?

GLOP2:
Datamonitor to Release Top 25 Safest and Most Dangerous Sourcing Destinations.
Will this influence your buying decision?  If you are in either of these two categories how are you going to use this to your market advantage?  In previous reports (formerly produced by Brown & Wilson) these designations involved not only physical safety but also involved climatic, social economic, currency, legal and judiciary element.

GLOP3:
Malaise – Is this where YOU are?
Are you depressed, feeling helpful, lacking motivation, unable to sleep, possibly turning to drugs and alcohol and finding it difficult to focus?  All of these are signs of clinical depression that when untreated may have catastrophic outcomes.  How can this be addressed?  Recognition by you (if that is possible) or a loved one is a great starting place.  The question of treatment should be of obvious concern since this is caused largely by our current global economic epidemic.  You can’t remove or insulate the patient from the environment, one must look for ways to contend with it and may even involve the use of medicatons.  We see all around us attempts to keep busy, re-shape and innovate with the hopes of making a difference.  Even those in this mental sphere are feeling the effects of little to no interest (not even dissenting opinion).  I would impart that this is not limited to just the West it is virtually every country and in very segment of life.  If we have slipped beneath the water let’s take a step back and refocus our attention on those things that matter.  Keep busy with ways that keep these important aspects alive and in support of our sanity (for the benefit of the world, our country, business, family and self).   A person once asked what is Innovation, and one of the most astute response was an action to address an opportunity.  If keeping busy means keeping is out of a Malaise… then I will encourage Innovation.

GLOP Epilog:

Make a difference and stop waiting for someone else to fulfill your destiny.
