The overall business of IT training is huge and moves fast. Any of us that have spent any time in the industry knows that. When it comes to educating the end-user, there is certainly no lack of books, webinars, white papers, and conferences that end-users can participate in to help stay current. But, when it comes to the task of keeping the IT Training professional current, I find there is a need for useful information; and hence the reason for this blog.
This blog’s highest level purpose is to create a community of professionals whose careers are defined by helping others learn IT. Questions I plan to bring insight on include:
1) How big is the IT Training industry as a subset of the overall IT industry?
2) What are the issues that keep IT trainers up at night?
3) Who are the buyers and sellers of IT training, how do they rank and how well do they perform?
4) What are the most creative and Innovative ideas about how to provide IT training, where do we go to get them, how do we use them and when to apply them?
5) What are the best-in-class ideas around how to maintain IT Training health within your enterprise?
…And many more.
The industry of IT Learning is large, diverse, and challenging; and it can be very rewarding. It has evolved rapidly and now the business of IT Learning needs to catch up.
So please join me in this quest. Let’s work together to raise the profile of the IT Learning professional; figure out what and how to execute the things that are right, debate and fix those that seem wrong and challenge ourselves to deliver high quality IT Learning to our organizations. By participating I know you will find it a rewarding opportunity to work with some great people and build a quality network of IT Learning peers.
