The 12 Days of Training

By Tim Sosbe

No matter where in the world you are, or what your personal beliefs are, ‘tis definitely the holiday season now. Hanukkah may be over and Christmas may still be days away, but there’s a certain spirit in the air this time of year.

Of course, the training industry feels it too. Some types of training may slow down as the holiday rush heats up (a course of customer service doesn’t pack the same punch as a holiday office party), but this time is year the training industry is also planning ahead. All around the globe, trainers are dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s on training initiatives just waiting to jump out in January.

But in the meantime, let’s celebrate the season in an appropriate way. With apologies to some unknown author, here’s a happy little holiday ditty with a special spin for our particular world. It’s common for training professionals to get a blizzard of “thank you” messages and gifts from the vendors and partners they’ve worked with over the year. But be sure to take a moment to thank your supplier community as well … even when they’re well-paid, they’re still providing and enabling incredible value for you and your organization.

So with that charitable thought in mind, let’s recognize the gifts our partners bring to the table:

On the first day of training,
My supplier gave to me,
The latest new technology.

On the second day of training
My supplier gave to me,
True talent management;
And the latest new technology.

On the third day of training,
My supplier gave to me,

Nice, Tim. But how can you do 5 butts in seats and nine virtual classrooms? It's not optimal use of new technology.... regardless of supplier... ;-) Hope you well. Happy Holidays, Grant
