General Dynamics gets $228M contract from FAA
FAIRFAX, Va.
The information technology unit of General Dynamics Corp. has won a $228 million contract to modernize a phone system for the Federal Aviation Administration over 10 years, the company announced Tuesday.
The company will provide technology updates and maintain the FAA's Administrative Voice Enterprise Services program until the existing phone system is replaced. The company will design a system for the agency's future needs, General Dynamics said in a statement.
The FAA plans to move from its current public branch exchange system to a newer system based on voice-over-Internet protocol. The program will support more than 64,000 users throughout the U.S., as well as facilities in Germany, Belgium and Singapore.
General Dynamics Information Technology provides professional services and training to customers in government and commercial sectors.
Shares of General Dynamics Corp. rose 8 cents to $73.73 in afternoon trading.
