Innovation Experiments – A Recipe for Success

What’s Anthony Bourdain Got To Do With Innovation?

Chef and author Anthony Bourdain, in his bestselling book Kitchen Confidential says:“I've long believed that good food, good eating, is all about risk.” And isn’t that what innovation is about? Innovation is nothing if not an opportunity for greatness. But at some level an organization’s will to innovate, and certainly its ability to execute that innovation, is informed by risk. So how do we move forward effectively while still mitigating risk? It calls for a regimented discipline not dissimilar to what you’d find in any laboratory worth its salt. What many businesses fail to understand about innovation is that the experiment is crucial. The initiative’s design, execution, and ultimate success or failure, are part of a clearly laid out plan that includes a true-to-form hypothesis.
