Asia-Pac Hospitality Firm Minor International Selects eCornell for Online Leadership Development Program

ITHACA, NEW YORK, June 6, 2012 -- eCornell and Minor International, one of the largest hospitality and leisure firms in the Asia Pacific Region, have recently partnered to deliver an online leadership development program for General Managers working within the company's Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas brand.

The online program was developed to meet specific objectives and business needs at Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, ensuring that they are leaders within the hospitality industry. Minor's primary goal is to cultivate higher-level leadership and business strategy acumen among General Managers. Select GMs will begin by taking eCornell's Strategic Hospitality I: Formulating Strategy course, followed by individualized curricula, depending on their specific training needs. eCornell offers a variety of hospitality courses for Minor GMs in several areas: leadership, strategic management, foodservice management, hospitality management and finance. All courses offered to GMs at Minor are authored by faculty at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.

"We have great expectations for this new partnership with eCornell," said Caroline Stevens, VP Human Resources at Minor International. "We anticipate that this will elevate our brand profile as we enable our high-potential GMs to become world-class company leaders. When Minor GMs complete their courses over the next year, we'll look to further implement eCornell programs into our learning and development programs. We project that this will become a full-blown, company-wide training initiative at Minor."

"Minor is a great example of how eCornell helps support organizations to build business acumen amongst their leaders and managers in a rapid and cost-effective fashion to help increase "speed to performance" of both the individual and business," said Tom Abogabal, VP Global Sales at eCornell. "We hope to build on the success of this first group for future waves."

eCornell's unique approach to e-learning combines the most effective elements of a world-class, Ivy League classroom with the flexibility of an online learning environment. eCornell courses—self-paced and 100 percent online—are "instructor-facilitated" to help guide a cohort of 20 to 30 participants through challenging, real-world exercises with practical on-the-job application. Classes enable learners to be immersed in learning that also fosters collaboration, interaction and networking.
