Simulation-based training is a fast-growing tool for honing the technical and communication skills of healthcare providers. But at Baptist Health, a large regional healthcare provider based in Montgomery, AL, it’s the nucleus of a broader cultural change program that embraces almost every hospital department. This inventive training program has helped improve patient safety, increase efficiencies in its emergency department, reduce employee turnover and more than double new nurse placement, among other dramatic strides. The training program has been so successful that the non-profit Baptist Health has engaged Raytheon Professional Services LLC (RPS), a global training company and business unit of the Raytheon Corporation, to help it bring the concept to the broader healthcare marketplace.
