Gary Hoover started out his career as a security analyst for CitiBank on Wall Street, was a buyer for Federated Department Stores and has headed up acquisitions and strategic planning for May Department Store Company. Hoover went on to start BOOKSTOP, a book superstore that seven years later was sold to Barnes & Noble for $41.5 million. Hoover also founded Hoover's Inc., the world's largest Internet-based provider of information about enterprises, and was recently appointed the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.
