NAFCU, BPN team up to offer CPA training

Aug. 19, 2010 - NAFCU has sealed a partnership with Business Professionals’ Network Inc. to provide certified public accountants a convenient way to earn continuing professional education credits.

BPN’s new Bankers Education and Development Network brings live and on-demand webcasts to accountants and bankers in cooperation with BPN’s original educational network, the Accounting Continuing Professional Education Network. The network provides CPEs accredited by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. More than 200 online courses are scheduled between now and the spring of 2011 (see catalog online).

The courses offer accounting professionals training on topics of interest to them and as needed to support their CPA certifications. “This partnership is a natural extension of our commitment to meeting the ongoing needs of a variety of professionals in the credit union industry,” said NAFCU President Fred Becker.

The ACPEN and BEDN webcasts, viewable by groups or individuals, cover topics ranging from those specific to the banking industry to more general business subjects. The courses are produced by BPN and delivered via an online video platform to financial services industry practitioners throughout the country.

BPN is the largest provider of live, video-based continuing education for the accounting profession through ACPEN, which has been broadcasting for 13 years.
