Iowa City, IA - December 7, 2016 - ACT announced today that it will provide workforce certification that measures foundational job readiness for thousands of workers in Mexico and for Mexicans working abroad under special agreements with the National Council for Standardization and Certification of Labor Competencies; CONOCER, a public entity of the Mexican federal government responsible for promoting the development of the National System of Competencies; and the Foundation for the Improvement of Education in Mexico, AC (FUNDAMEE).
ACT workforce development certification is based on assessments and training that assists employers in identifying candidates who possess core competencies of career readiness, such as critical thinking and problem solving, as well as teamwork and collaboration.
“ACT’s workforce certification will enable employers to confidently identify, select and hire qualified candidates, especially first-time job seekers,” said ACT Chief Commercial Officer Suzana Delanghe. “ACT’s agreements with CONOCER and FUNDAMEE are designed to help thousands of younger workers and students bridge the gap between education and workplace competencies and take advantage of new opportunities to improve their personal and work lives.”
CONOCER, which reports to the Ministry of Public Education, is responsible for promoting and regulating the processes of standardization and certification of labor competencies. Its mission is to develop the productive potential of human capital for the competitiveness of Mexico, through the National System of Competencies. Thus, it ensures the quality of the certification processes of workers and serves as a fundamental reference for work training systems.
FUNDAMEE is a non-profit organization certified by CONOCER to train, evaluate and certify the labor competencies and skills of individuals, based on national labor standards.
“CONOCER and its National Network evaluate and certify worker’s competencies, and in doing so, we boost productivity and competitiveness of enterprises and organizations,” said Director General of CONOCER Alberto Almaguer Rocha, Ph.D.
FUNDAMEE President Alberto Ortiz-Pavon stated, “Our partnership with ACT will further our ability to provide a valid credential recognized by more than 20,000 employers and organizations in Mexico and the USA.”
Under this agreement, ACT will provide assessments and materials in English and Spanish.
More than 3.5 million individuals have participated in workforce readiness training and certification and earned a Career Readiness Certificate in the US. The credential distinguishes qualified candidates in the hiring process, benefiting workers and employers.
