CHICAGO, IL, Nov 07, 2011 -- APICS The Association
for Operations Management, the global leader in supply chain and operations
management certification, education, and membership, announced the winners of
the prestigious APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence today. Awards were
presented for educational excellence and innovation in sustainable productivity.
They recognize leadership and innovation among the global corporate community.
The awards were presented to Lockheed Martin and Magna Karmax Heavy Stamping
at the 2011 APICS International Conference & Expo in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, USA, October 24.

The 2011 Education Award of Excellence winner, Lockheed Martin, encourages
its employees to pursue APICS certification and looks with an editorial eye at
how the APICS training they use works with and complements any other training
they implement. Lockheed Martin's scope of implementation speaks well for the
culture, management commitment, and the work force's level of involvement.
The 2011 Innovation in the Sustainable Productivity winner, Magna Karmax
Heavy Stamping, embarked on a modernization project to support their
manufacturing operations related to the supply of parts to their assembly lines.
The goal was to ensure waste was removed from their manufacturing process. There
were clear improvements in on-time pick and on-time delivery and the program was
well-organized and carried out.
The APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence honorees were selected by a panel of
industry and subject matter experts. The award honorees are evaluated based on
the business results, ongoing impact, and practicality of their submission.
APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence honorees were recognized for their
